Albuquerque New Mexico

Monday May 7, 2018

Boy were things different this morning. To start with, my master gave me my breakfast kibble right away. Then we went for my walk. Usually I get to lay in bed until we are about ready to go. My master took this quick snap of the decor, more big game on the wall, on our way back to the room. Little did I know what was up. A BATH, that's what was up. What a way to start the day. I don't see how my masters can stand to do this every morning. But, I have to say, it was probably a good thing. I was pretty filthy judging from the water. I do feel better now that it's over.

We load up, gas up but can't coffee up. There is none to be found. My masters have crackers and nuts for breakfast. Give me kibble any day over that. We are on I40 headed east to Albuquerque by 9:30. There isn't as much to see along the interstate. Most of the landscape is golden colored scrub with mountains in the distance. Occasionally there are some interesting rock formations. The Hopi, Zuni, Navajo, and Laguna Pueblo Indian reservations are all in this area.

Trains are back with us. The road follows the railroad tracks. This must be a major shipping route. We pass through the Petrified National Forest, but can't see any indication of it. We cross the state line into New Mexico and give the first of our borrowed hours back. We pass close to several mesas. They are a unique landscape providing intricate scenery. My masters stopped for their lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Gallup, New Mexico since it has trees for shade. They even put up the windshield reflector to help keep it cool inside the car for me.

My master only found tea today. She finds out that Walmart carries her favorite bottled iced coffee, Starbucks Cold Brew Unsweetened and they have some at a store near our hotel in Albuquerque. We make a pit stop there before arriving at the hotel around 5pm so she can buy all they have. Now tomorrow should be a much better day. I'm already happier. This hotel has very nice grass and plenty of it. I should be able to avoid another bath. I think my master picked this place specially for us, grass for me and a recliner for Bob. My masters went to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner. The food was good but a disappointment. They were hoping for some outstanding Mexican food since we are in New Mexico.
