Del Mar is our turn around point. Today we head back north and then east slowly toward Vero Beach. But first we have a big day today. We have more time here in Del Mar including more recommendations from Nick. Then we will take the top down and drive the PCH back to Seal Beach and the Pacific Inn. It is a perfect day, warm and sunny. My master and I have a great walk in the neighborhood. We head down to the ocean and see this dolphin carved from an old tree. The yards are beautiful with flowers and other plants. Have you ever seen Hens and Chickens so big?
We have some time and need a few things so head to the Del Mar Town Center. The Rite Aid has everything we need. We go back down the hill to the beach for a stop at the Bleu Bar in the L'Auberge Del Mar hotel. Wonder if this picture is the view Nick said he loves too see when he visits. I get to join my masters in Bleu Bar since it is outside. My first time to go in somewhere. It is a very nice facility and our bartender is super friendly. We would stay but we have plans to go to Brigantine for lunch.
Brigantine overlooks the Del Mar Thoroughbred Race Track. I get to go in here too since my masters are eating outside. My lucky day. This really is the year of the dog. Karen has a delicious kale salad and Bob has a bowl of tasty clam chowder. I only get to watch but that's OK. It has been so nice in Del Mar. We hate to leave but we must. It is top down time!
We stop to put the top down and take some pictures. I even get in some. We are having a great drive.
We have a stop to make. My master wants to put some of his best friend Gerry's ashes in the Pacific Ocean. Gerry loved the water so it is good some of his ashes should be in this ocean as well as on their way to the Atlantic from the Indian River at home. We stop at the beach in Carlsbad. It isn't like we expect. The sand turns into rock near the water. That is so like Gerry. He was unique and not what you expect. He had rough edges but his loyalty was solid as rock. We miss you Gerry.
We see some cool sights on the way north. There is a lot of traffic so we are worn out when we get to the hotel. My masters opt for an easy dinner across the street. We turn in for a good nights rest.
