It was a bit of a production getting on the road this morning. It was lightly raining which doesn't bother me. With all my hair I can't even feel it on my back, only on my feet and belly from the wet grass. But it sure bothers my master. After my walk, she took me in the entryway with a towel to dry me off then put me in the car while they loaded up the bags, etc. don't know why humans need all that stuff. 9am and we are loaded up and gassed up headed for Danville, Illinois. My master has a cousin, Bryan, who lives there with his wife. Her name is Lucy too.
The weather sure has changed. It is dreary and grey. You can't find the sun. It has rained off and on all day. At least it's not snowing or icy. My master says it reminds her of when she was a kid. This kind of day is why she moved to sunny Florida. There is a lot of road maintenance going on including long stretches with one lane blocked. Good thing there isn't much traffic. I think I'll just sleep.
My masters talked with Bryan and Lucy for quite awhile. They are really nice. They have a nice place in a pretty neighborhood. Bryan said there are a lot of Corvettes there so we fit right in. Bryan recommended driving down Vermillion Street to get back to the interstate. There are a lot of older nice homes along there plus we drove through part of the downtown area. Always cool to see the old buildings.
We stopped in East Peoria, Illinois so my masters could have lunch at the Silver Bullet. They thought it was going to be a silver diner but it was a neighborhood bar/restaurant. They had an Italian beef sandwich and a Reuben, yum yum. Finally we can get on to Leia's house so I can see baby Shay.
We arrived at Leia's house in Davenport, Iowa about 3pm. It was raining and Leia's had lots of company so I didn't get to go inside. So bummed. My masters didn't stay very long but Shay must be wonderful because they couldn't stop talking about here. We are spending the night at my master's sister's house. Cheryl and her husband Bob live in Durant, Iowa right off Route 6. This is where we left off on our first trip. When we got there, it was windy, raining and cold. My master made my do my chores before I could go inside. Burr.
We made ourselves at home until Bob and Cheryl arrived home from going to their granddaughter Ruby's second birthday. The neighbors Mark and Kathy came over. So good to see all my Durant friends again. The humans had something called a charcuterie and Kathy's chicken noodle soup and focaccia bread that Mark made. All their raving just made me jealous as a munched my kibble. Before we knew it, it was time for bed.
