I
We are off again on the second half of my big adventure on Route 6. My name is Lucy and my masters and I are driving the length of US highway Route 6 in a Corvette. Two years ago we went from Provincetown, Massachusetts to Durant, Iowa following Route 6 the entire wavy. It was a grand adventure as you can read in my earlier posts. But Route 6 doesn't end in Iowa, it ends in Long Beach California. So we are back on the road again to finish what we started.
First my masters had to pack the car. I wanted to be sure they didn't forget me! My neighbors Duke and Max with their masters Bob and Michelle sent us off with well wishes and lots of waves. Now we have to get back to Durant to rejoin Route 6.
Today we are traveling from our home in Vero Beach, Florida to Loganville, Georgia outside Atlanta. We started out in sprinkles but it was sunny by the time we reached Orlando. There sure are a lot of horses around Ocala. Pretty spring flowers lined the roadway there. We stopped for lunch at Two Cuban Guys in Lake City. It is a food truck with a porch attached. I even got to go inside. My masters shared a Cuban sandwich. From what I heard, it must have been really good. Think they would share? You guessed it. My master saw a street named Brookside Drive. I guess she used to live there when she was a kid in school. She even found a Google Earth link to her old house. I heard a big sigh and saw a smile on her face. It must have been a nice place.
Why Loganville you say? My master's granddaughter Kaitlyn lives there with her husband Corey. I was hoping to see my friend Dallas in Loganville but she is staying with Kaitlyn's parents in Florida. You can read more about our wonderful visit here. Tomorrow we go to Maynardville, Tennessee to visit my master's sister. We should be in Durant on Saturday.
My master made me this bed for the car. It is taking some getting used to. He made it high so I can see out. It is much softer than the hard plastic I rode on last time. The burlap really helps my stay put during his wild turns. I can dig my nails in and hold on tight. I think I might need that since we will be going through the Rocky Mountains.
It's great to be back on the road again. Stay tuned. I'll try to post every day so you can follow me on Lucy's Big Adventure on Route 6. See you out there!
